Dough sheeters and the oven line at the LIBRA factory
Sustainability

Use resources with care

Food takes materials, energy and work to make. LIBRA aims to use these resources more thoughtfully, with practical priorities for production and packaging.

Review packaging materials

We aim to assess whether packaging weight, size or layers can be reduced. Any change must preserve food protection and readable product information.

Assess proposed materials under actual packing and storage conditions. Compare material savings with any change in product damage.

Understand energy use

Our priority is to understand energy use during start-up, production and idle periods. This can guide scheduling or maintenance trials. Compare results while preserving food safety and product quality.

Understand ingredient sourcing

We aim to understand how ingredients are grown, processed and transported. Supplier discussions should clarify resource use, working conditions and gaps in the available information.

Find the cause of waste

We aim to identify losses in storage, production and packing, then investigate their causes. Quantity planning and material handling are areas to assess. Food safety must guide any proposed change.

Assess changes before wider use

These priorities describe work we aim to assess. Each trial needs a starting point, a defined change and evidence of results. Reviews should explain both benefits and trade-offs.
